Wikis in English Language Teaching

Background to this wiki

In earlier years (up to 2017) we made use of this wiki space to create a group activity on learning strategies, which you can explore if you want to see what people did then. There are some useful materials to refer to on (Learning strategies).

From 2018 we started making use of the wiki to create and store different teaching activities that we asked students to create as a part of course work. On the right-hand side in the 'Side Bar', you can see links to various introductory pages, some of which show how this wiki works, and some linking to further information about the previous materials. Travel more, Spend less is a secondary level page, prepared by Nahielly Palacios who worked on the course unit in 2018, 2020, 2021 to present. New in 2019 we had Felix's example, based in ESP to give some variety. There is also all of the material that the students created in 2019.

In 2018, Gary set up a page that contains the text that we talk about as part of the reading material on the Language Learning and Technology wiki. This is an illustration of how we might use a wiki to store and run learning materials.

--2020

In 2020, we are still going to use the wiki to create some learning materials, but we are also going to use it to make our own course unit wiki about the different topics, so we are going to keep a set of notes here. This will both illustrate the value of the wiki and give you practice in using it.

We are using the wiki to create some learning materials and practice using other digital tools like H5P. We are also going to use it to keep notes of your understandings of the readings you are doing on weekly basis. You will do this with your study group members.  Below are links to the study groups. Make sure the wiki pages you create both individually and as a group are located in the folders assigned to your study group.
